Join, Capri Cafaro, host of the James Beard Award nominated series America The Bountiful, as she embarks on a 60 minute journey that celebrates farmers, growers, and producers from coast-to-coast to reveal fascinating food stories, and ultimately, the authentic spirit of America.
The one-hour Special, anticipated to premiere in July 2026 to coincide with the 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, is an enlightening exploration of the culinary origin stories of our Founders. Capri is on a quest to discover how Colonial settlers from Europe and enslaved people shaped the flavors of a nation. She travels to regions of the original 13 colonies, including Boston, Philadelphia, Mt. Vernon, and Colonial Williamsburg to explore the historic foods and drinks, including beer and hops, that the colonists were growing, harvesting, and celebrating as they became food independent.
Viewers will discover right along with Capri how the colonial settlers paved the way for these United States of America to develop regional traditions and flavor profiles passed down through generations that continue to evolve and strengthen our communities.
America the Bountiful: Declaration of Food Independence, the one-hour Special anticipated to premiere on public television nationwide in July 2026 to kick off the 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence celebration.
- The premiere of the one-hour Special is expected on July 3, 2026 in primetime on Create® and scheduled as a “Marathon” over the July 4th weekend
- The Special can also complement PBS affiliate schedules throughout the year on patriotic holidays, such as Veterans Day (November), Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day (December), Memorial Day (May), Armed Forces Day (May), Juneteenth National Independence Day (June), and Flag Day (June).
