Stories That Feed Us
food. curated. is an award-winning TV documentary series that celebrates the people who feed us — chefs, bakers, farmers, and food entrepreneurs whose stories reflect culture, resilience, and community. Filmed across New York City’s neighborhoods, the series goes beyond recipes to explore heritage, identity, and the human relationships that form around food. Each episode offers an intimate, cinematic portrait of independent food makers — many from underrepresented communities — capturing how creativity, craftsmanship, and love of food continue to shape local economies and cultural life. At its heart, food. curated. believes that all good food has a story — and that these stories deserve to be seen, valued, and preserved.


A National Moment for Local Stories
Now entering a pivotal new chapter, food. curated. is preparing for its first national public television debut, presented by NYC Media (WNYE-TV) and distributed nationwide by American Public Television (APT). After more than a decade of local public television success in the tri-state area, this expansion will bring inspiring, deeply personal, craft-driven food stories to audiences across the country — at a time when small businesses, cultural preservation, and community connection matter more than ever. Donor support directly funds production, post-production, and outreach, ensuring these stories reach viewers nationwide while remaining independent, authentic, and creator-driven.

About the Filmmaker
The series is created, hosted, and directed by Liza Mosquito de Guia, a James Beard Award–winning filmmaker and food storyteller based in Brooklyn. Over the past 15+ years, Liza has produced hundreds of short documentaries spotlighting chefs, farmers, and artisans, often filming as a one-woman crew to build trust and intimacy with her subjects. Her work has been recognized with a James Beard Award, multiple James Beard Award nominations, Telly Awards, and three New York Emmy nominations for Lifestyle Programming. food. curated. has partnered with and been featured by The New York Times, Food & Wine, Serious Eats, Eater, NYC Media, NY1, HLN, Scheps Media, and other leading outlets.
