About the project:
The Opening Doors Project amplifies voices of color and advances interracial conversations about race through the arts. Our organization grew out of the simple but urgent idea that music and honest conversation can help us understand each other across our differences.
Founded in 2021 by Alastair Moock and Stacey Babb, Opening Doors began with live-streamed performances that connected artists and audiences during the pandemic, in the wake of the murder of George Floyd. We’ve since grown into a robust organization with one of New England’s most diverse rosters.
Today, our concerts, workshops, and school programs, including “Race and Song: A Musical Conversation,” our flagship program for students and teachers, bring people together in schools, libraries, theaters, senior centers, congregations, and performing arts centers across New England and beyond.
Your gift helps keep these doors open, funding the artists, programs, and partnerships that make our work possible.
